Padeniya Raja Maha Viharaya

 

Padeniya raja maha viharaya It is an archaeological site located in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. The town is famous for its beautiful legends. Local and foreign tourists visit this temple.

Km from Anuradhapura About 85 km south and 25 km northwest of Kurunegala, you will find the Puttalam and Anuradhapura roads. This ancient temple is found on the site.

The main house has 28 pillars and an attractive carved door. It is a beautiful, medieval temple. There is also an old library, and a preaching hall with unusual wood carvings.

One of the ten great giants of King Dutugemunu’s army (161-137 BC), Therapuththapaya, is      said to have been a Buddhist monastery. Became known as the Battle. The Therapuththapa played a major role in the Vijithapura Mawatha. main entrnace of padeniya royal temple
